The GOOD PITCH comes to SILVERDOCS!
The Good Pitch, an innovative documentary pitching forum for filmmakers, will be featured for the first time in the U.S. at the SILVERDOCS: AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival, June 15 to June 22, 2009 at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Washington, D.C.Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation, working in partnership with the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program (DFP), created The Good Pitch in 2008 to give filmmakers a unique opportunity to pitch social-issue documentary projects with associated campaign strategies to NGOs, charities, foundations, campaigners, advertising agencies, brands and media.
The inaugural Good Pitch was held at the BRITDOC Film Festival last year. Eight projects were selected including RESIST, authored by film star Gael Garcia Bernal, who took part in the live pitching process. (You can watch the trailer at: www.britdoc.org/real_good/pitch).
Before coming to SILVERDOCS in June, The Good Pitch will make a stop at the Toronto Documentary Forum (TDF), May 6-7, part of the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in Toronto. The Good Pitch at SILVERDOCS will be open for submissions on February 16, 2009. More information at SILVERDOCS.com.
