Ace Grant Pitch for $10,000

ACE banner

In September 2006, SILVERDOCS and Animal Content in Entertainment (ACE), a program of The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), requested grant proposals for a documentary destined for theatrical, television, or new media distribution (40 minutes or more). The project could be in any stage of development but had to highlight animal issues. SILVERDOCS and ACE selected six finalists to pitch for a $10,000 award.

ACE will assist the winning pitch filmmaker with obtaining distribution and promotion of the documentary—including an article in the HSUS’ All Animals Magazine, promotion to 10 million HSUS constituents, a featured presence on the HSUS and ACE Web sites, an announcement of the win in the ACE e-newsletter, a special Los Angeles screening of the film to donors, free access to the extensive HSUS stock footage library, and two VIP tickets to the nationally televised Genesis Awards, where the award will be announced.

2007 Winning Pitch
The Award Winner for the Animal Content in Entertainment (ACE) Grant went to THE CONCRETE JUNGLE by Rachel Buchanan and Don Bernier. The feature-length documentary explores the complex relationships that exist between humans and wildlife in urban settings. The film examines the past, present and future of our long-standing tug-of-war with the natural world. Stretching from New York to New Delhi, the film presents the successes and failures of city dwellers facing this growing global concern. More on THE CONCRETE JUNGLE.
