Welcome to the ninth annual AFI-Discovery Channel Documentary Festival, where your American Film Institute brings people together from around the world to celebrate the pure and simple idea that stories in our real world are often more powerful than fiction.

AFI has championed the art of the moving image for over 40 years with national film events, educational programs and television specials that celebrate excellence in American film.  At SILVERDOCS, moviegoers are provided a proper environment to debate and discuss films with others who passionately believe that our day-to-day stories can change the world and the way we live in it.

This non-fiction nirvana would not be a reality without David Zaslav, John Hendricks and the visionaries at Discovery Communications, who have helped the Institute create a world-class film event that empowers audiences to explore the world around them.
