Directions/Parking
The AFI Silver Theatre is located at 8633 Colesville Road - at the intersection of Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue - in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, just blocks from Washington, DC.
Go Green: Take Metrorail or Metrobus to Silverdocs (Official 2007 Regional Transportation)
Metrorail: The AFI Silver Theatre is located on Colesville Road, just two blocks north of Metro's Red Line station in Silver Spring.
Metrobus: The Silver Spring station is served by Metrobus routes 70, 71, J5, F4, F6, JH1, J2, J3, J4, Q2, S2, S4, Y8, Z5. From Local Airports: To learn how to access the Metro from each of these airports visit wmata.com.
Ride-On Bus: The Silver Spring station is served by Ride-On routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 28.
Car: The AFI Silver is less than two miles south of Beltway/495 exit 30 (Colesville Road) and exit 31 (Georgia Avenue). The theatre is also convenient to the Bethesda area via East-West Highway, and a short drive from downtown Washington via 16th Street, NW.
Parking: The Wayne Avenue parking garage is located between Georgia Avenue and Fenton Street in Downtown Silver Spring, with direct access to the Wayne Avenue Plaza. The Wayne Avenue garage offers FREE PARKING after 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.
There are parking garages on Wayne Ave and Ellsworth Drive that offer parking free after 6pm. In addition, parking is available at Gateway Plaza after 6:00pm (in front of the historic shopping center at the corner of Georgia and Colesville) . The AFI Silver is also within easy walking distance of several public-parking decks. The closest is one-and-a-half blocks from the theatre at Colesville Road and Spring Street. The public garages offer free parking on week-ends and metered rates of 50¢ per hour weekdays.
Ground Transportation
Amtrak - Travel with a friend to SILVERDOCS and save money!
A 50% discount is available for one adult companion traveling in Coach with a paid regular (full fare) OR Adult, Senior Citizen or Disabled discounted ticket for Amtrak travel to Washington Union Station or BWI Airport Rail Station. Reservations must be made at least three (3) days in advance of travel. Request discount code V722 when booking online at Amtrak.com or via 800.USA.RAIL. The discount is valid for travel in the Northeast Corridor on Amtrak Regional trains and Keystone service. Discount does not apply to Acela Express service.
Amtrak offers a 10% discount off the lowest available rail fare to Washington Union Station between June 13 and June 26, 2008. To book your reservations, please call Amtrak at (800) 872-7245 or contact your local travel agent. Please refer to Convention Fare Code X04T-938 to receive the 10% discount. Convention discount cannot be booked via Amtrak.com. This offer is not valid on the Auto Train. Offer valid with Sleepers, Business Class or First Class seats with payment of the full applicable accommodation charges. Fare is valid on Amtrak Regional and Acela service for all departures seven days a week, except during holiday blackout dates.
Air Transportation
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) has a Metrorail stop a short walk from the terminals. From the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, take the Yellow Line to the Gallery Pl/Chinatown Station, then transfer to the Red Line to the Silver Spring Station. A taxi from DCA costs about $30 and takes approximately 25 minutes.
Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)
From BWI Airport, take the MARC train (Penn Line Southbound) to Washington, DC's Union Station and then transfer to the Metro's Red Line to Silver Spring. Please note: The MARC train does not run on Saturdays or Sundays. On Saturday or Sunday, you can take Amtrak, Super Shuttle or a taxi. You can make reservations for Super Shuttle in advance by calling 1.800.BLUE VAN, but doing so is not necessary. A taxi from BWI costs about $55. There is also a Metrobus from BWI.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
From Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia (IAD), you will need to take Super Shuttle or a taxi. A taxi from Dulles costs about $60. There is a Washington Flyer Bus Service to the West Falls Church.
